Alternative Color Schemes for Outfits

Feeling limited by blue, black, brown, and grey? These colors will never fail you, and I’m not telling you to abandon them, but if you aren’t sure what else is out there, You can add in some pops of color here and there to create a more interesting and dynamic outfit. But look, I’m not gonna say go jump into the deep end without a floaty. I’m gonna give you some color schemes that work really well for men’s outfits.

These color combinations are tried and true, and can help provide a compass for choosing elements of your outfit.

  1. Burgundy, tan, and brown. I’m thinking khakis with a burgundy polo or sweater with brown loafers and a brown belt. These are really great Fall colors.

  1. Navy, beige, and brown. You could do this a couple ways. Khakis with brown shoes and belt, with a navy polo or navy Henley for more casual settings. You could also do a dark wash jean with a beige sweater or Henley with brown accents.

  1. Black and gray. It might sound boring, but it is super classy and chic. A fresh fit with these colors would be black slacks, a black sweater, and a gray jacket. For the colder months, a gray wool peacoat over an all black outfit would be super cool. I’d recommend silver jewelry with this. You could do a black or gray belt with a silver buckle.

  1. Grey, Green, and brown. Technically green is considered a neutral because it’s found everywhere in nature. I’m picturing brown chinos with a light green button down under a gray sweater. I’d do brown shoes and belt with that. Or you could do a green sweater or hoodie with casual gray chinos or plaid slacks, with brown accents.

  1. Navy and gray. These colors are a classic, and great for Fall and Winter. You can mix and match which colors are your outerwear and which are your inner wear. With these two colors you could go with either gray or navy shoes and a belt. Just whatever you do, don’t wear black shoes with a navy centered outfit.

Let these inspire you. Let them summon visions of yourself walking down the street like its your personal runway. Let them inform your shopping choices. Feel them within you and breathe them out. Okay, I’m being dramatic, but I promise these color schemes will serve you well for years.
